"Professionalism and Care of Staff in the..."

About: Cheltenham General Hospital / Gynaecology

On the 12th September 2017 I was due to have a Colposcopy - a procedure I also had performed in 2014 in a different hospital. I wanted to say that the staff in the Colposcopy clinic in Cheltenham were fantastic. All were extremely professional, informative, and kind. I was particularly impressed with the level of informed consent and clear explanations of what was happing before and throughout the procedure.

I also felt that the team/ nhs Gloucestershire have done their best to make the environment as comfortable as possible by including images on the ceiling, a separate consultation room to treatment room, a separate changing room and toilet, music in the waiting room, and bespoke advise leaflets. This was a huge difference to the experience I had 3 years ago in Oxford.

Having medical professionals perform essential but uncomfortable procedures is never going to be a nice experience, that said all staff that dealt with me on the 12th September genuinely made the experience as comfortable as possible and I wanted to thank them for this. Sharing this kind of professionalism should be shared across gynaecology units across the UK
