"Requested written letter"

About: University Hospital Ayr / Ophthalmology

(as the patient),

I have been having problems with my eyes and was refereed to hospital from my doctor at the Stevenston practice.

He said that I should no be driving in which I informed my company as my job involves driving. I was then seen by an eye specialist in Ayr hospital where he informed me that I can drive, I then informed my work in which they now are requesting a written or typed letter for proof.

I have called a number of times asking for a letter of proof in which I was told it would take a couple of days to be with me. This is now my 5th week waiting and still no letter and my work are on my case to get one as it is now affecting my job with them. I

am not happy as I was told 3 times that it would be with me in a couple of days and I called again  where I was told nothing was on my record and that they would need to bring out my files and contact the doctor who then would get a letter sorted for me, not knowing how long this would take I am waiting AGAIN.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear Eyes n letter,

I am sorry you have had so long to wait for your letter, it must be very frustrating for you. I have had a chat with the Ophthalmology Secretaries and we think we know what is going on here. If we have the right story, there are further tests needed before a letter can be issued and the secretary has been trying, unsuccessfully, to contact you to let you know.

So that you can be sure and get the right information, could you please call Karen on 01292 616450 and she will be able to sort things out and give you the right information.

I hope this helps,

best wishes,

Eunice
