I was admitted to St Mawes Ward suffering from extreme stomach pains on 6th September. We were due to finish our holiday and return home to Yorkshire on 8th September.
The staff on the ward overnight were excellent. One member of staff administered the very necessary pain relief and inserted a catheter relatively painlessly, whilst another had the unpleasant task of inserting a nose tube to my stomach which they did with the minimum of discomfort.
The next morning, 7th September, I was visited by the consultant who organised a CT scan. Within an hour of the scan I received an operation to insert a stent to relieve the pain and sort out the kidney stones, a truly remarkably quick turn round time.
After the operation, I was moved to the Surgical Admissions Lounge, C Bay, where again I received excellent care, especially from the overnight staff and day staff.
I was discharged on 8th September. Whilst I am still in a lot of discomfort, it is nothing compared to my previous pain.
The staff on the Wards coped extremely well despite appearing, to my untrained eye, sadly overworked.
Please pass on my thanks to all the members of staff that assisted me.
