We are visiting from Australia and on Monday 4 September I sustained head and neck injuries after slipping in wet conditions while walking part of the Coast to Coast from Rosthwaite to Grasmere. After being transported by helicopter I was admitted to Emergency in Preston hospital. The experienceed emergency team who treated me were outstanding. I was then admitted to the Neurological ward where I spent 3 days recovering. I required plastic surgery to repair a scalp laceration and I also sustained a stable C5 fracture to my spine. Words are inadequate to describe the care I received while convalescing in this hospital. Everyone, from Senior Specialists, Registrars, nursing staff, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and even the staff serving meals treated me with kindness and compassion. The NHS is surely one of the best organisations I have ever had to deal with. As a tourist in your country I shall forever be indebted to people working in Royal Preston Hospital. Thank you
"Outstanding professionalism, expertise, care..."
