I was admitted to Ward 14 to assess a problem with stomach pains. My GP examined me in the morning and thought I might as a problem with my gall bladder so she arranged for me to be admitted. On arrival I had to wait about an hour before being seen, but as this was during the lunch hour I guess this was hardly surprising.
I having been taken to the Ward I was seen promptly by two doctors who carried out a physical examination, and took details of my medical history. I then had blood samples taken, and then the wait to have these checked out in the Path lab. The results cam back late afternoon, when another doctor came an examined me and told me that the blood results were normal, and rather than keep me in waiting for an ultrascan I was told that this would be done in out patients in around 2 weeks time.
This is only the 4th time I've been an in patient in a hospital in my life, so it was a bit of s daunting experience not knowing quite what to expect. I found both the doctors and nurses and other staff courteous , very thorough and made my brief stay as easy as possible.
The NHS my be under a lot of pressure but my experience was of a well run hospital that delivers an unparalleled service to the community.. thank you all for the work you tirelessly do.
