"Patient care"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I was left in a&e screaming in pain even though a doctor repeatedly asked the nurses 5 times to get me pain relief. It took an hour and half before I was given anything. The doctor actually came up to me later in the evening and profusely apologised. I have never made a complaint about any trust and been a nurse fully understand staffing and bed constraints but the care in this hospital was diabolical. I absolutely hate having to complain but I believe I have a duty to report this.

Dear Parkes30

I am so sorry to read that the nurses were delayed in providing pain relief to you during a recent attendance to A&E.

I would like to be able to investigate this further with the staff who were on duty and would appreciate you sending your name and date of attendance to PALS@ulh.nhs.uk so I can review your attendance. Would you please quote reference CO394249 in your e-mail?

Thank you for sharing your experience with us, it is feedback both positive and negative which enables us to learn and develop as a team.

Regards

Karen Hansord – A&E Sister
