"Good Experience"

About: Lister Hospital / Maternity

To whom it may concern,

My Wife and I would like to thank the entire team of doctors and midwives who attended to us last year 2016 at Lister hospital. As a family, we acknowledge and give thanks to God Almighty, however we cannot but recognized the hard work of the Consultant Obstetrician, Head of Midwifery, Delivery Midwife and Bereavement Support Midwife for the fantastic job of looking after my wife and to the Chaplain for the spiritual encouragement given to us.

My wife was admitted at Lister Hospital Stevenage 2016 with a suspected preterm prelabour rupture of the membranes or PPROM during the 20 weeks scan in November 2016 and we were advised to consider termination of pregnancy to save my wife’s life as she was developing sepsis infection because of delayed detection of the PPROM. This was a very difficult time for my wife and I, nevertheless with the support and encouraging words of the aforementioned names, we felt comfortable and strong to consent to the termination which was carried out by inducing labor.

I remembered the management providing me a bed beside my wife as well as feeding me because I couldn’t go home leaving her by herself. I also remembered the fantastic job of the midwives during the delivery of our beloved daughter as they were running around to ensure she was given her I.V antibiotics for the infection on time and accurately as well as attending to the needs of a woman in labour simultaneously. I can never understand how they did this but thanks to their immersed empathy, knowledge, training and experience, the delivery went on smoothly and my wife was looked after adequately. Thanks to the Delivery Midwife for patiently listening to our wishes and coordinating the event as expected. A special thanks to the Bereavement Support Midwife, for dressing and presenting our daughter, Ebunoluwa and for looking after her body before been taken to Cambridge for a postmortem examination.

Lastly, we want to say thank you to the Chaplain, for organizing and conducting a ceremony for our beloved daughter.

Conclusively, my wife and I want to sincerely appreciate NHS and its employees who have been and continues to work tirelessly to look after people like my wife and I, not minding the conditions of their job.

On behalf of my wife and myself, we say thank you all.

Adegbenga and Oluwatobi.
