I have had good and bad experiences in this hospital. (Bad ones usually because there are so many staff shortages! So not the staffs fault) but today my Pre Op Assessment was nothing but pleasant. All staff, including receptionist, health care assistants and nurses, were incredibly understanding and reassuring about my anxiety and agoraphobia whilst I was there. Didn't rush me, and answered all of my questions. And they checked to make sure I was ok and not too anxious continuously throughout the entire appointment. A lovely person was being taught how to do an ECG and I was asked before they did mine, to make sure I didn't mind them being taught using me, and they and their colleague chatted to me throughout and made sure I wasn't too anxious. And they were both very polite and very kind. Everything was explained to me very clearly and the staff made sure I had no questions every now and then which I thought was great because sometimes I don't like to butt in and ask questions. And the last nurse I saw was just so lovely and made sure I had all of the information I needed, they were extremely friendly and made sure I was ok. And when speaking to me about my history of mental illness they were very patient and treated the subject very sensitively so that I didn't get upset or anxious about talking about it. And finally, the person on reception went above and beyond their duties to make sure I was ok and got to my appointment alright. And they were so friendly and helpful when me and my husband got to the appointment. I was really grateful. I find leaving my house incredibly hard, but the staff today put me at ease so that I could have the appointment and not panic or feel that anxious I had to leave before it was done. I'm really pleased and impressed!
