"Parking at the Aldershot Center for Health"

About: Aldershot NHS Outpatients

(as the patient),

Me and my wife (Who is recently pregnant) had a hospital appointment at the Aldershot Centre for Health which should have taken no more than half an hour so duly purchased a ticket using the money I had available (No contactless or app based payment available). But due to the inappropriate nature of paying before use of a hospital car park and circumstances out of our control the appointment took longer than expected and therefore we overstayed by 10 minutes. Due to the nature of the appointment it was impossible to leave the appointment to purchase more time (nor was it on my mind to do so).

It is not my fault that the car park at this hospital does not operate a pay after use as is present at its parent establishment at Frimley Park Hospital or offer alternative payment app.

Due to the unfair circumstances and the fact that I had paid for what I required (Who can reliably predict the future) I therefore deem the £100 fine that was issued by "Smart Parking Ltd" far too excessive for the 10 minute overstay. Added to that I feel that bullying tactics (I assume to prevent challenge) are used in the associated letter such as:

Discount periods

Administration Fees

Legal Jargon

etc...

And the fact that alternative payment mechanisms or SMS reminders are not present then this just seems totally exorbitant.

This is not the behaviour I would expect from an organisation associated with the NHS and it certainly isn’t smart.
