"Can't fault breast care unit"

About: Basildon University Hospital / General surgery

I was referred to the BCU by my GP after I found a breast lump and had my appointment 10 days later. During the appointment I was very impressed by how well run the department was. I was seen promptly and underwent a consultation, mammogram, ultrasound and treatment for the lump which was fortunately confirmed to be a cyst. A final consultation reassured me that no further treatment was needed but to get any future lumps checked out and not to assume that they will also be cysts.

The staff were very friendly and professional and I was relieved to be thoroughly checked without waiting around or needing second appointments.

All in all my experience reflected the NHS at it's best. Thanks to all the staff in the department.
