"A & E Visit"

About: Blackpool Victoria Hospital / Accident and emergency

On 22nd of August I had to be taken to A&E by ambulance. The ambulance crew were lovely from picking me up to waiting with me at the hospital.

All the nurses and staff were wonderful, how they keep their patience and composure with what they are faced with I don't know. Some of the things they have to cope with go way beyond their job description. The doctor treating me again, wonderful, ordering tests and explaining everything to me and my daughters. The consultant went through everything we me after tests, both myself and my 2 daughters could ask any questims we wanted to.

I can't thank them enough for their care and attention.

I have only 1 negative comment and it is not aimed at the staff but the fact that they apologised for any delays for something that was not their fault. They were inundated with patients, , some accidents, some very ill people needing a lot of attention, some like myself needing tests and x rays etc. and some causing a nuisance and taking staff away from their duties. The waiting was not their fault, they should not have to apologise for doing their job in such an excellent manner under the conditions and presure they have to work with.

Dear Doreen,

Thank you.

It is great to read the positive feedback you have given following the recent care and treatment you have received in the A&E department here at The Blackpool Victoria Hospital and also from North West Ambulance.

It is wonderful to read that you found all the staff you encountered to be patient and composed and they were able to provide you with the information that you and your daughters needed.

Thank you also for your comments and support of staff that apologised to you regarding delays. As you have indicated the department is incredibly busy and I know that staff try their best to see patients with minimal delays and are often unhappy when they are not able to due to the number of people.

I hope that your recovery continues and wish you best wishes

Thank you once more I will share your feedback with the teams involved

Andrew
