My son recently had hip replacement surgery at the City Hospital. He has received outstanding care from his surgeon, Mr Manktelow. Mr Manktelow has always taken time to explain the options carefully, speaking with respect and patience with my son at the same time as recognising our concerns as parents. He has taken a personal interest, not only in his treatment but in him as a person, fully recognising that his condition is not simply something to be managed in isolation, but is connected to his life in the round. His skill and expertise in orthopaedic surgery is clearly second-to-none. His humanity in dealing with us all has been exemplary and hugely appreciated. He has inspired confidence and been open throughout. This high standard of care has been reflected too in the aftercare my son received on the ward: Harvey 1. The staff were all friendly and responsive and went out of their way to accommodate our role as parents of an 'only just adult'. The standard of care has been very good, from nursing staff but also from HCSWs, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, catering and cleaning staff. I feel very appreciative of the dedication, patience and caring attitude of all the staff.
"Dedication, patience and caring attitude"
