A few years ago I was referred to a psychiatrist for depression. On my first visit I was told I would be taped for training purposes and no-one would know it was me. It made me very anxious and I was told to go home and think about it.
On the second visit after many sleepless nights I agreed to being recorded. While in consultation a mobile went off which was answered. (I thought this very unprofessional)
On my third visit it came to switch the tape recorder on and it needed new batteries. The response was "oh we don't need it" which inwardly made me feel very upset that I had felt pressured to be taped and now suddenly it wasn't needed.
On my next visit no one turned up and I was not informed of a cancelation.
On my next visit, I was told after waiting 2 hours no one was available to see me.
This happened on three appointments altogether. As you can imagine each time I was going I was really anxious.
During my last consultation the mobile was answered again, by this time I had lost trust and respect, it was a shambles.
Just thought I would share this with you as I have never forgotten the experience and will never see a psychiatrist again.
I did go on to have Cognitive therapy at my GP's and it was excellent.
