"Told the food is brought in & reheated at Newton Lodge"

My son is presently in Newton Lodge Wakefield. Although i'm happy he is getting good treatment. There does seem to be a lack of good food.

My son says the food is terrible. I have never seen the food that is served as I'm always asked to leave at meals times. I have spoken to many of the patients and also spoke to the staff about the food and they all say it's not very good. I asked the some of staff if they would eat it and they said that they wouldn't.

My son spends all his money on the vending machines buying sandwiches at 2.00 each. I was told that food isn't cooked on the ward, but brought in and reheated. There is a kitchen on the ward so why is food brought in?

I feel it's so important that good food should be made available as part of patient recovery.

As a trained chef that has worked in the catering industry I do not understand why food is so badly cooked. I hope someone looks into this and can make improvements in this area.

I have asked if I could make food and bring it in. I'm told this is not possible. I can buy from the supermarket but it has to be unopened.

At least the food I cook would have great nutritional value, taste and flavours and would save my son spending all his money on junk food
