"Care and compassion"

About: University Hospital Ayr / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I would like to thank all staff who cared for me during my recent stay in Ayr Hospital. The staff in Station 11 showed care and compassion throughout my stay.

I am very grateful to Mr Young and Dr McRoberts for their dedication and to all the Nursing staff and Nursing Assistants who looked after me so well. I would also like to thank Jill the physiotherapist who encouraged me all the way!

Prior to my surgery I received a home visit from a very understanding Occupational Therapist called Maxine. She really helped reassure me and following my operation she was extremely kind and considerate of my needs.

As an extremely anxious patient I am truly thankful to everyone for everything they did to help reassure my during my say. Thank you once again.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear Mm45,

I am so pleased your stay and recovery has been so good to date. I suspect it is a big concern having a new hip and the recovery afterwards. It sounds like you have been a star too, even if you were extremely anxious. I will be very happy to pass this on to all the teams you have mentioned, I am sure they will be delighted with such nice feedback.
