"My Experience"

About: York Hospital / Accident and emergency

Having been in York Hospital as an emergency admisdion the care i recieved was first class.

The A&E department treated me with speed and efficiency . Whan i wrnt onto the Amu ward for the night this is where things took s turn for the worse . I was offered no pain relief ftom 9.00 pm until 3Am when i told the staff who i did not see after being admitted that i was going home only then did a Doctor give me some pain releif telling me i was jumping the que by complaning i was in pain. I told the doctor yes your busy I was asking for a signsture took less the a minuet for pain releif. I had to say you wouldnt leave a pet in psin why a human being. A signature so you can get pain releif should be a priority. Diagnoses can come later. Could learn from A& E offer pain releif immediatly .

Thank you for taking the time to contact us.

I am pleased to hear that your experience in our Emergency Department was first class and that you were treated with speed and efficiency.

I am very sorry to hear of your experience on AMU, it is not acceptable to leave a patient in pain without pain relief.

We do take your comments very seriously and would like the opportunity to look into your concerns further.

If you would like discuss this with us, please contact the Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS) on 01904 726262 or email us at pals@york.nhs.uk and we will be pleased to help.

Kind regards
