"I think the service was shocking"

About: Northern General Hospital / General medicine

(as the patient),

I was at my sister's house, I had not been drinking alcohol at all. I suddenly fainted, my sisters also told me on waking up that I was also fitting. I had an ambulance take me to hospital and the staff then were very good.

Once in the hospital I was put in a bed and had mp temperature etc checked and was seen by a doctor. My sister and husband explained how badly I was fitting. They told me I was foaming at the mouth, shaking badly and teeth tamped tightly shut. The doctor told me it was a faint. I expected to at least have further tests for epilepsy given I have two young children to look after, but I was just sent home.

Once I got home I was also being sick. The whole thing had taken 40 minutes from going to hospital and getting home. Once I have had time to think about it, I think the service was shocking. Speaking to other people who have had similar experiences, they all said they had further test than just temperature and blood pressure etc. One of the people had stayed overnight. I felt that maybe the doctor thought I had just been drinking and did not want to treating me.
