"Pain management"

About: Leicester General Hospital / Pain Management

Visited pain management June 17 with right side ab pain and tightness. This has been undiagnosed for 2 years. Was told to use anti inflammatory cream and a hot water water. After explaining I have tried this ground breaking procedure i was offered pain patches. After pressing for a more realistic solution I was promised injections but told I would have to wait months. Received a letter in August 17 to make a further appointment. Contacted the department just to be told there was no record of a promise for further procedures at this time. They just wanted to review me in November. I suspect then another 14 week wait to actual get some sort of relief.

After 30 years of continual employment I am now off work for the 12th week no longer able to walk or stand without pain.

Pain can be debilitating and life changing. For me it has completely stressful having to be dependent on the NHS for reasonable treatment. All I want is to return to work and be the person I was.

I suspect I will get a generic "I am sorry" answer ticking all the the appropriate feedback procedural boxes. But still I will have to wait for months in pain and debilitated.

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback.

We are really sorry to hear that you are disappointed with the Pain Management Clinic at the General Hospital and that you are still suffering and in a lot of pain which is effecting your everyday life. We would really like to look into this for you, so if you are happy for us to do so, please email your name, address, date of birth and hospital number (if known) to: communications@uhl-tr.nhs.uk and we will pass your details on to the management in the Pain Management Team so they can investigate further and hope to get this resolved.
