"They took care of a badly shaken elderly lady"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as a friend),

My friend's 83 year old mother fell in her garden, and hurt herself. She'd hurt her face, neck, arm, elbow, and knee.

As a precaution, my friend and I took her to Crosshouse Accident and Emergency Unit.

She was looked after by Dr Beveridge just before the end of her, no doubt, busy shift.

I think it is very important in these days of the NHS getting a bad press, that we remember what a good job our medical professionals do!

I witnessed this Doctor take a great deal of care with a badly shaken elderly lady. Dr Beveridge was very thorough, listened carefully, and was extremely kind.

I know my friend's mum was happy with the standard of care she received and was reassured that she had not sustained any serious injury.

So, once again, Well Done, NHS Scotland, and Dr Beveridge.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear Dolly M,

I am glad your friend's Mum was not too badly injured. I will pass this to Dr Beveridge, I expect you will make their day.

Yes, it is lovely to hear the positive stories as well. Thank you for helping to balance things up and for taking the time to share this with us on CO.

Best wishes,

Eunice

The NHS is the backbone of this country, and it is important to give praise where it is due in my humble opinion. Thanks once again !!

Dear Dolly M,

I hope your mum is recovering well. I wanted to thank you for taking the time to give feedback about your mum's experience within the Emergency Department. As a team, we were glad to hear that she had a positive experience and that she did not sustain any serious injury.

Dr Beveridge is delighted to have received such lovely comments. As a department we are keen to learn from all comments received which includes learning from excellence and I will ensure that your comments are shown to the wider Emergency Department Team.

Dear Doctor Gilroy

It is a sincere pleasure to say thank you. Dr Beveridge really did a great job of looking after my friend's mum!!!

I am delighted that you are sharing my comments, not for myself, but if it helps remind staff they do a tremendous job, often in pressured situations, then that is fantastic news. Once again, well done for having such a lovely Doctor on your staff.
