"Dementia care"

About: Heartlands Hospital / Accident and emergency

My 84 year old grandmother, who has dementia and is in a care home, was taken into heartlands today. It's always difficult taking her somewhere different and you hope that the people who deal with her understand how to care for her. All staff at heartlands, from the paramedics to the nurses, were caring and thoughtful throughout all of her care. They completely understood how to deal with her and I felt 100% satisfied with how she was dealt with. This is the now the second occasion she has had to visit heartlands and they have been amazing with her on both occasions. Thank you for putting our minds at rest and for being so patient, thoughtful and caring.

Dear Nikita,

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your grandmother’s care and treatment at Heartlands Hospital.

It is lovely to read such positive comments, as I appreciate that it would have been a very worrying time for you and your family and possibly quite frightening for your grandmother, being in unfamiliar surroundings.

I am very pleased that as a family, you had such a good experience.

I shall forward your posting to the senior management for Accident and Emergency and ask that it is shared with the staff, as I am sure they will be delighted to read your comments.

In addition, I will forward your posting The West Midlands Ambulance Service, with regards to the paramedic crew.

Best wishes

Jenny Langham

Patient Services Officer
