"D1 ward stories are a myth."

My mum was admitted to D1 ward at Bolton Hospital a few weeks ago, when they told us in A&E we would be moving to D1 we were filled with dread. We have heard horrific tales about D1 and D2 wards at Bolton.

I have nothing but praise for the staff on D1. My mother was anxious, poorly and disorientated which made myself and my husband very anxious also.

The minute we arrived we were greated by a student nurse, who put us all at ease instantly.

The student nurse was going to be looking after my mother along side some other nurses, she tended to every need, left no stone unturned in the questionairre. The manner was warm, caring and nothing was too much trouble.

All the staff on D1 were extremely kind and caring but they simply didn't have the time to do anything more than the basics for mum, where as this student nurse seemed to go that extra mile.

I think it's a shame that a nurses job these days seems to revolve around paperwork and there seem too few nurses to allow for the job to be done properly.

I just hope that by the time this student nurse becomes a nurse things have changed in order that they won't have to.

Keep up the good work, you made a vast difference to my mums care and our experience as worried relatives.
