"Failure to respond to multiple GP referrals"

About: Conquest Hospital / Neurology

My wife, (a usually very fit and healthy long-distance runner), very suddenly started experiencing short-term memory loss, dizziness and continual migraines around a month ago. She visited her GP who referred her to Neurology. A week later, when her symptoms had worsened, she went back to he GP who contacted Neurology to expedite the referral. A week later, after a fortnight of dizziness and dibilitating and continual migraine she called the GP, who again wrote to Neurology to further press for an urgent consultation.

As I write, my wife has still not received an appointment date, and remains on an 18 week waiting list, and I remain sick with worry.

Outrageous that I am having to resort to writing this on your website in the hope that making this public will spur Neurology into taking my wife’s sudden deterioration seriously.

We are sorry to hear of your wife’s condition and your understandable concern.

All referrals are registered on receipt and then appointed as soon as possible, subject to clinical direction.

It would be helpful if you could make contact with our Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS). They will look into the situation and advise you accordingly.

PALS can be contacted on 01424 758090 or by email at esh-tr.PALSH@nhs.net.

Please be assured we take your concerns seriously, and we hope to hear from you soon, so that we can gather further information that will enable us to make enquiries.
