"Colonoscopy with utmost kindness"

About: Good Hope Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

I was very nervous as I waited for my investigation, but the staff couldn't have been kinder and quickly put me at my ease. I was welcomed by a Staff Nurse, who took a few details and explained what was going to happen and reassured me that, although not pleasant, I would not feel any pain.

As she had said, the procedure was uncomfortable, but pain free and I was relieved at the end, to hear that nothing serious had been found.

Throughout my visit to Good Hope Hospital, I was treated with the utmost kindness and consideration by everyone in the department and was even offered a snack and cup of tea. Thanks to them, what could have been a terrible ordeal, was made into a relatively relaxed afternoon.

Thank you very much for your kind comments regarding your recent patient experience at Good Hope Hospital for a Colonoscopy Procedure.

I am so pleased to note that although you were understandably nervous, on arrival, the staff were very welcoming, kind and quickly helped to put you at ease, and that everything was explained to you clearly throughout which you also found reassuring.

I am sure you were very relieved to be advised before being discharged, that nothing of serious concern was found. Our staff work very hard to promote and provide a positive patient experience and feedback such as yours gives our staff a great boost!

I will ensure that your post is highlighted to the Endoscopy Suite Manager, the Matron and the Clinical Lead Consultant who will communicate and share your feedback with all of their team.

I hope this is acceptable and once again thank you for taking the time to post your feedback, it is extremely important to us.
