"Patient care in Ward 56"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / General medicine (Wards 5d)

(as a carer),

My brother was admitted to this ward after he suffered a stroke. His care from the staff was second to none and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. However what made my brother's stay an outstanding care experience was the care and support that my husband and myself received from all members of staff on Ward 56, Langlands unit. The support of staff was invaluable in a difficult situation, including help to place my brother in a Care Home suitable to his needs. We are extremely grateful to all staff members for their support and consideration to us all.

Dear Renfrew Family

Thank you for taking time to share your experiences of ward 56.

I am pleased to hear that your brother’s experience of was such a positive one, in what was undoubtedly a very difficult time. Suffering a stroke is a life changing event and one which as you say impacts not only the patient but the relatives and carers, I am glad that the team were able to support you through this with care and compassion.

I will ensure that your kind words are shared with the ward 56 team.

I hope your brother is settling well into his new care home and wish him and your family all the best.

Geraldine Marsh - Associate Chief Nurse Older People's Services
