Friday evening I was worried I may have a urinary tract infection because of the symptoms I was having. I had a circumcision performed days before so I felt it was likely I had an infection because the surgery had put me at high risk of contracting an infection. I called 111 and they referred me to out of hours doctor at Neptune health centre. I went to appointment at 10.30pm to see doctor and told doctor I believed I had a urinary tract infection. The Doctor brushed over my concerns and seemed to be trying to rush me out even though there was no one else waiting to see them. Doctor assured me I didn't have an infection but didn't take a urine sample to properly check this either.
Saturday morning I felt much worse and was panicky as a result. I called 111 again and this time I was referred to doctor at Sandwell hospital. Here a urine sample was taken and it was confirmed I had a urinary tract infection. Thankfully I have been prescribed medication for this. Absolutely furious Neptune doctor didn't offer to check my urine especially as I was at high risk due to my surgery days before. The Doctor made me feel as if I was wasting their time.
Shows the importance of recognising a condition as serious as this as soon as possible because urinary tract infections are extremely unpleasant and symptoms can escalate so quickly as I discovered Saturday morning.
