"Consultant doesn't believe in ME or CFS"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Neurology

(as a service user),

I recently visited neurosurgery at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley

I have been suffering for 2/3 years from, extreme fatigue, fainting episodes, joint pain, extreme sweats glandular pain.

Now depression

So my GP sent me here, as I genuinely think they have no idea what to do with me.

I have not been out my home in months, so this was a difficult time.

Waiting 40 mins past the appt time wasn't the best starts, but it suddenly went downhilll.

I was seen by a doctor, and I felt like they treated my first meeting as if I had committed a crime, for instance, they demanded I make my mind up, if I had swollen glands, or sore glands, stating I had said they were swollen. I was made to feel very insignificant, they asked me what I did for a living, I told them and explained I manage 180 people, they responded with an incredulous manner, as if they didn't believe me.

My wife would help me answer questions as my memory is poor, they ignored her, then without looking at her continually tried to contradict her too, I felt I was being targeted by this doctor, who I guarantee, does not believe in ME or CFS.

This examination was making me increasingly agitated to the extent I just wanted out.

I tried to tell my wife to get me out of the room, as I felt this doctor was determined to put me down.

I then was medically examined, I was thrown about by the doctor, not asking me to do things, for example, they took my socks off whilst I was lying down, they appeared to have very little patience, one of their processes was to use my index finger to touch my nose and back, when I asked him to repeat something, as I didn't understand, they shouted it back to me! When I got it wrong they said I wasn't listening. They seemed annoyed and appeared to be losing their temper.

At the end of the examination, I was treated like a child.

My eating is not too good at the moment, so this is what I was told to do.

-Eat three times a day

-Stop taking medication

-Take a walk

I was honestly gobsmacked by this, my medication states that it is dangerous to stop taking them, but asks for a weaning off period, when I pointed out that I need them for pain medication, they said abruptly I could either take the pain and stop the medication, or stay like this.

I have been sick after eating so I can't eat well..

I sleep for very long periods of time, and my joints hurt badly, so at the moment going out walking, I simply can't, but I would like to.

To summarise, I have been made to feel like a waste of time and space, they were abrupt, rude, arrogant, and condescending, who I believe had no intention of helping me, as soon as they believed my problem wasn't neurological, they wanted rid of me, at the end I was offered a head scan and an ECG I think. I reluctantly agreed, but I before I knew where and when to go or what to do, we were put out of the room! ? I have no idea where I stand?

Please advise me on your opinion on what next to do, other people shouldn't have to put up with this form of treatment.

All of this can be corroborated by my wife, she was utterly confused and disgusted with this ill mannered doctor.
