I had investigatory procedures for my stomach at the Gartnavel Hospital in Glasgow and the care was amazing.
Nurses and Dr's introduced themselves, I was respected throughout, I had dignity, control and was treated as a person not just another patient.
It's that simple, keep us informed, use some empathy, treat us well and what is a distressing experience becomes bearable. When I thanked them the staff said they were just doing their job, this might be true but when you have other bad expereinces you realise how important it is for staff not to be complacent and respect us-then respect comes back.
"Not just another patient "
