"Demonstrating real care, effective treatment options and genuine compassion"

After a minor problem my wife received the the distressing news that she had an abnormal growth on one of her kidneys further investigations revealed that it was a cancer, this was confirmed by a biopsy.

The cancer care team at east surrey hospitial were very quick and effective explaining the situation and gave us clear information about condition, staging, and treatment options whilst being mindful of the impact of the situation on us, within days we had a consultation with professor Rane who recommended a radical nephrectomy operation to remove the affected kidney

As it turned out we could not have been in better hands as he is probably the most experienced man in this field you could hope to have taking care of you. (he performed the operation personally).

The surgery took place a few weeks so as you can See the time from diagnosis to surgery was quite short- in effect what could be done was done as quickly as possible( things may have been speeded up by the fact we made our decision to accept the surgical recommendations very quickly! ).

the surgery when well- in the professors own words textbook (and he wrote that book) and my wife is now on the slow road to recovery.

I would like to say the professor and his surgical team, the cancer nurses, the ward staff, and everybody else we met who looked after us through this emotional and distressing time were amazing demonstrating real care, effective treatment options and, genuine compassion.

No one is prepared to go through a experience like this but if it was to happen to you or someone you love and care about that there could in my opinion at least be no better team of people anywhere to help you survive and cope every single one of them has my heartfelt thanks for what they have done so my wonderful wife is still here by my side

I owe them more than I could ever repay but I hope that these words will go some way to demonstrating my gratitude in a time when the nhs is under such tremendous pressure and criticisms abound these people have shown that there are those who can and do care doing there best selflessly day in day out.
