"Diabetes and Maternity Services"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Maternity care

(as a service user),

I am writing to tell you about my wonderful experience with the Diabetes and Maternity Services last year.

Whenever I found out I was pregnant, I informed the Diabetes Team and an appointment was made straight away for me to attend the Diabetes and Obstetrics Clinic at AMU. I then attended the first of many very thorough appointments. Every appointment I received excellent care and from all the team. I was scanned, seen by midwifes, Diabetes Specialist Nurses, Diabetes Specialist Consultant, Obstetrics Consultant and the Dietician. All of whom were absolutely fantastic.

Special thanks to Dr Ramsay, Noreen, Vincent and Roni. I could not have done it without all your knowledge and expertise. Such an inspirational bunch of professional knowledgeable people. Dr Ramsay is one amazing woman who has now been involved with both my "Diabetes and Pregnancy Journeys".

I had a planned C-Section in the end which again could not have went better. The staff at AMU were all so organised and everything was just perfect... would make me want to have another lol.

I cant thank them all enough for the care that we received, Right from the midwifes who admitted us to everyone who was involved in the delivery. I was also supported and encouraged to deliver my baby whilst still on my insulin pump and my blood sugars were perfect throughout my delivery thanks to all the experts especially Roni who has sadly now retired.

Thanks again to each and every one of you and keep up the good work.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear diabetes733,

Congratulations Mummy, I hope you are getting enough sleep.

Wow, what a great story of your care in NHS Ayrshire and Arran and a great accolade to all the staff involved in your care. I will be delighted to pass this to all those you highlighted for their care. (Although it may take me a wee while!!). Seriously though, you will make their day and put a smile on many a face, thank you.

Best wishes,

Eunice
