"Ward 3 at woodland view hospital irvine"

About: Ayrshire Central Hospital / Geriatric Assessment

(as a relative),

My dad was admitted to this ward at the end of April 2017 with vascular dementia. This was a traumatic time for him and my family. The staff in the ward immediately put us at ease and were there every step of the way to answer all our questions and reassure us on his future The care he received was exceptional and the staff always went out their way for ALL their patients. My dad had to pay a visit to a&e and Lesley (one of the nurses) went with us even though her shift had finished. My dad is now in a nursing home where he is settling well but my and all my families hearts are still at ward 3. Well done to everyone there and congratulations to the NHS on this fantastic care facility

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear Lexi cody,

This must have been a very difficult time for you all. I am so glad that you all got this level of care and you feel this way about it. It can be easy to underestimate the impact of kindness and reassurance in all walks of life, but particularly so, when families are facing scary unchartered waters.

I am also glad your Dad is settled in his new home now. It will be a relief knowing that he is cared for and safe.

Thank you so much for taking time to share your story on Care Opinion, I will pass this on to the team, I am sure the staff will be delighted to hear your sentiments.

Kindest regards

Eunice
