"The surgery saved my life"

About: Worcestershire Royal Hospital / Vascular surgery

thanks to all of the staff who treated me during my 6 week stay in hospital. I was admitted on the 8th April to A and E with abdominal pain which the staff originally thought was kidney stones and I was discharged with a supply of paracetamol. However, the pain returned with a vengeance and I was rushed to A and E again where a scan revealed a ruptured Aortic Aneurysm of 7.5 centimeters. This is very unusual for a woman of 53. I had emergency surgery the locum consultant surgeon saved my life and then had excellent care in the CCU. All staff were very efficient. Then I went to the Vascular High Dependency Unit where all staff once again were excellent .

The most serious gastrointestinal complication of open repair is ischemia from lack of blood perfusion to the left colon this unfortunately happened to me and resulted in one more emergency operation to remove necrotic tissue and a 3 cm hole in the bowel and two follow up operations am grateful to the two consultants who performed these life saving operations and I am extremely grateful to them. Following another stay in CCU I was then taken to Beach high dependency and then ward Beach A. I cannot fault the staff and I couldn't have asked for better care. I am now on hopefully on the mend and very satisfied with my treatment.
