I was told by my surgeon that my operation would be within eight weeks as it was deemed urgent. Seven weeks later, I have heard nothing and I have tried constantly to speak to the admissions officer to no avail. I am in a great deal of pain and discomfort and have been unable to get the prescribed antibiotics from my GP as it is unlicensed and the consultant's secretary seems incapable of communicating effectively with my local doctor. I am aware that there are more important operations ahead of me, but I wish that they could give me a tentative date so that I could plan my life. The surgeon was so confident that I would be seen in eight weeks and this has left me feeling disappointed. They even told the consultant to make sure I was marked down as urgent so that I did not "get lost in the system."
