"nurses in A& E Department"

About: Northwick Park Hospital / Accident and emergency

i had a miscarriage and was in severe pain when i went to a & e dept .. after waiting for long i was called and the nurse wanted to take my blood .. but couldnt find my vein .. they tried several time ( earlier i never had this issue at all ) they started request a another nurse for help if they could get my blood ... they ignored . so the nurse started experimenting and inserted the needle with great pain ...after 3 hours after midnight later came the time to remove the needle and they removed and let me go no nothing badage was aplied ... while reaching the car as it was raining and dark when i sat in car i notice my full shirt covered in blood and arms with nervous to see too much blood. my husband and we went in furious as they has needle the vein itself i guess. the nurse was calm yet nerous to see this much blood quickly took my arms in sink and started washing and told me you should have folded your elbow. you didnt which is why this happened .. i was crying literately seeing this much blood on my clothes and alrerady i was losing enough by miscarriage.. my husband went in to complain who ever was incharge but they were not to be seen..

please do something about it .. hiring ppl who dnt know there work and totally unprofessional and rude. is a risk for us ppl..

I am so sorry to hear about your miscarriage and that you had such a horrible time in our department when you really needed good care and support.

I have shared this with the Head of Nursing for the A&E department. We were both shocked to read this. Your experience was completely unacceptable. If you feel able to please contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 0208 869 5118 or LNWH-tr.PALS@nhs.net as we would like to identify the nurse concerned. I completely understand if you do not want to do so at the moment.

There is always a senior nurse in charge of the department at night so I am also very sorry that you could not find anyone to help you at the time.

Thank you for taking the trouble to give us this feedback.

Best wishes

Sue
