"Do not be scared to have a blood test"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Paediatrics

(as a service user),

I had a blood test done at clinic 5. I had to be very brave. 1 hour before I had to put some numbing cream and cling film on to make me not to be able to feel it.

When I got to the the hospital I went into a small room ( well it was a medium size room ) I sat on my mummy's lap and the nurse put a pink band on my upper arm I don't know why. Then one of the nurse said " Sit and face the side with my right arm behind me like I was cuddling my mummy. Mummy and I played an alphabet game. the nurse did my blood test I didn't even know. At the end the the ladies surprised me by saying "All one. " After that I got a sticker and a toy there were lots to choose from.

I forgot to tell you that in the waiting room there is a find the animals it was very hard.

I went from very, very nerves to really surprised. Do not be scared to have a blood test.

We are so pleased to hear that your blood test went well, what a brave superstar.

The pink band is to give your arm a squeeze and a hug, it helps the blood to come out easier.
