"Messed up finance policy"

About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford) / Neurology

I'm disabled, have all the paperwork and I'm having to have the same surgery redone. But having recently experienced the appalling patient transport service run by G4S, including a 2 1/2 hour wait cos of screwups, I'm not doing that post surgery! But the pre op assessment will not let you go forward for surgery if you plan to travel home by bus after. Okay so I'll get a taxi. Erm, no, I just spoke to the Cashiers Office, you need it in writing that you need a taxi!

Well neither Day Surgery unit nor pre op assessment will do that.

If hospital policy prohibits you from travelling home by bus you should be able to reclaim the taxi cost.

There is a big disconnect in this horrendous Trust between policy and patient welfare.

Its okay, I'll just do what I frequently do post sedation treatment, lie about it!

I am sorry to hear of the problems you are having with G4S’s Patient Transport Service.

I have included a link to a page on the NHS website which explains about transport for medical appointments:

http://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/Healthcosts/Pages/Travelcosts.aspx

You can contact G4S on:

Bookings line on 0800 096 0211, 24 hours a day.

You can find out more about the service at www.km-pts.co.uk

If you want to complain to G4S you can call the above number, or leave feedback on the website, or write to: Kent and Medway PTS Contract, Swift House, 18 Hoffmanns Way, Chelmsford, Essex, CM1 1GU.

It is not recommended you travel by bus after your surgery, if you are unable to do any of the above, please call our PALS service on 01227 783145 or send us an email at ekh-tr.pals@nhs.net

Thank you.
