I'm disabled, have all the paperwork and I'm having to have the same surgery redone. But having recently experienced the appalling patient transport service run by G4S, including a 2 1/2 hour wait cos of screwups, I'm not doing that post surgery! But the pre op assessment will not let you go forward for surgery if you plan to travel home by bus after. Okay so I'll get a taxi. Erm, no, I just spoke to the Cashiers Office, you need it in writing that you need a taxi!
Well neither Day Surgery unit nor pre op assessment will do that.
If hospital policy prohibits you from travelling home by bus you should be able to reclaim the taxi cost.
There is a big disconnect in this horrendous Trust between policy and patient welfare.
Its okay, I'll just do what I frequently do post sedation treatment, lie about it!
