"Giving birth to my 8th child"

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital / Mary Rose Maternity Centre

(as the patient),

Recently I turned up to maternity unit a wk over due expecting our 8th child I turned up just to be checked as wasnt sure what was going on as didnt feel like labour to me and my waters were still intact only to be told I was 5cms dilated and being taken to labour ward at around just after 10am

I was greeted by a lovely midwife amanda who was absolutly amazing as my labour progressed very quickly and scared life out of me.  she managed to calm me down and even managed to make me laugh.  she let me and my body do what it wanted and she was constantly reassuring me as I was told I was gonna have at least a 8lb baby I was petrified I couldnt push him out as all mine have been no bigger then 7lb.   well contractions came on so quickly and by 20past 10 I had that urge to push which scared me yet again as it was happening so quickly. I had my daughter with me as my birthing partner as shes thinking of midwifery when she leaves school and amazingly enough amanda told my daughter to get some gloves on and she could help with delievering her brother which she did and found amazing.  at 10. 33 am my not so big after all little son was born weighing 6lb 10oz  amanda then helped my daughter cut the cord and also dress him.

out of all my births this was one of my best even thou quick I felt I had my best friend being my midwife.  she made me feel amazing and confident in doing what I was doing and I want to thank her from bottom of my heart, my daughter and our new son.

made my last birth experience amazing and enjoyable x

Dear Jessmumof8

Thank you for taking the time to leave your lovely feedback. I am so pleased to hear that everything went well and that your daughter was able to assist in the birth of your son.

Please be assured that I will share your comments with the team involved as I am sure they will be delighted to receive them. This will also help other people who may see your comments and feel reassured about having to come into hospital, so a big thank you from all of us.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and the new member of your family well.

Kind regards.

Debbie
