In my case I have heart failure, with aortic valve replacement, initially a pacemaker and now an ICD fitted
Had a black out and car accident whilst driving, emergency services despatched and car roof taken off to allow me to sit up and walk out of the car. Overall help and response from fire and ambulance services fantastic
I've had to call for assistance a couple of times since my heart op in 2012, and each time in east yorks -great. However, I firstly called 111 because the problems didn't seem to be life threatening. 111 upgraded the call to ambulance and after home check up which gives a complex and inaccurate cardio result cos of the ICD.
I feel that there is scope for far more contact via 111 to let them assess the problems without calling "emergency"
As I've said, fantastic service, but using 111 reduces emergency call outs
