To begin with I was pleased with the staff I came into contact with but when it came to seeing the consultant who I thought was rather abrupt and impatient I was rather annoyed and upset. I was told that they couldn't do the removal here after all because I have a mild latex sensitivity and they were not set up for this. So after waiting weeks for an appointment I have to be referred somewhere else and have a latex allergy test. I completely understand that this is important to know but however if it was stated before I arranged this appointment about the importance of having a latex allergy test I would have got one before hand. Although I feel mine is not a full blown latex allergy so I don't warrant a test for having sensitive skin.
After speaking to the nurse they said the surgery is not equipped for an Anaphylactic shock. This gets me wondering what would happen if someone had an latex allergy they didn't know about? My suggestion is couldnt you go all latex free? Nitrile gloves? Etc.
So now I need more time off work without pay, thanks!
