I was induced at 38 weeks to have my baby at this hospital following previous full-term stillbirth. My department was quite busy and I had to stay at the hospital for 3 days before getting a drip as the softer approach did not work. I thought most midwives were lovely but I was unfortunate enough to get the midwife who already from the prenatal care seemed overconfident and rude. On the day of labour the midwife tried to inject the needle for the oxytocin drip and failed twice. Then a specialist was called and put the needle in with no problems. I did not dilate for good few hours despite escalating pain. Then the anaesthetist arrived to give me epidural but at this point I felt an urge to push and told my midwife about that. They refused to check my cervix insisting it was only 4 cm dilated 30 min ago. The epidural procedure started and I literally held my baby inside (which was an agony) as I had to stay still for the procedure. Once the epidural was in I pleaded again that I needed to push however again my midwife ignored me again. A head midwife came, took one look at my backside and said that the baby is trying to come out. I finally pushed the baby out, never getting any pain relief or numbness from epidural at any point because I was given it at the wrong stage of labour and because the needle formed a blood clot in my spine.
