I've already completed a feedback form at the hospital, and am considering a complaint in the vain hope others might not have to endure what I did.
Having had lithotripsy before many years back,
I thought I knew what to expect, suppository pain relief on arrival, and an uncomfortable procedure that may require extra pain relief if too painful.
Well, now it's much worse; the hospital - I now have to get all the way to Haywards Heath rather than Brighton where I live - don't provide pain relief, you have go go to your GP!? What is the logic of using GP time!?
They are not overly familiar with the procedure, nor the tolerance you may have on that day.
Needless to say the first attempt was a waste of time as I had inadequate pain relief, and the hospital can do nothing!
Just a radiologist in the room who stops the procedure. Second attempt too ill, third attempt ended up scared on a cocktail of pain relief at home, only to fail the procedure again.
Now I'll have to have surgery and have had a frightening experience before on anaesthetic.
In West Sussex, the hospital provide pain relief for this procedure which is enfuriating and upsetting that it's different here!
"No pain relief provided at the hospital for..."
