"your care, love, support and understanding had spurred me on"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / General Surgery (wards 64, 65, 66,& 67)

(as a service user),

Thank You Ayesha for referring me to Miss Chung and Thank You Miss Chung for your referral to Mr Anderson. I cant begin to tell you how greatful I am to all of you from chatting with cleaning staff, porters - but most of all to the truly amazing staff who cared for me, not just as a patient but as a person too from lovely Mary at Ward 66 - Maureen and of course your wonderful staff! Far too many to mention! I Thank You all from the bottom of my heart.

My last surgery was major, I spent 24 hours in ICU, Thank You girls, just next time if I want my bag just give me it, lol, as I'm awfully stubborn but that's what gets me through!

Sending out a special message to a certain F1 who showed me true empathy and compassion but yet still managed to be a professional doctor, gaining my complete trust and respect! you're going to the top. My little dancer and her mentor Diane, my English compatriot! You all know who you are! You are all truly amazing people as well as medical staff!

Without you guys, my amazing surgeon Mr Anderson and his staff from F1's, anaesthesiologists, their supporting team, recovery, ICU and not forgetting the surgeons secretary, Angela, his right hand woman; ) I wouldn't have been able to have the quality of life I have now, I almost gave up! None of you know how close it was, however your care, love, support and understanding had spurred me on. I could go on forever... so many people I haven't mentioned. Although I know that you all know who you are! THANK YOU. All my love and best wishes to you all! You're all my heroes.

I work in a small team within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. Part of the team’s role is to support patients and carers through our feedback systems which will help to improve the services we provide. On Patient Opinion, I support Lorna Gray, Patient Experience Public Involvement Project Manager, and Niall McGrogan, Head of Patient Experience Public Involvement.

Dear MichHec

Thank you for taking the time to post on Care Opinion. I am delighted to read about your experience of care in Glasgow Royal Infirmary. More so, reading about the way all of the staff were able to make you feel during that time is how we aim for all patients to feel.

Coming into hospital can be an anxious time for many, so by saying that the staff you mention provided support, understanding and empathy at a time when you needed it most and about how much of a difference it made, will mean a lot to them when your feedback is shared with them.

I will ensure that your feedback is shared with the General Manager of the service, who will share it with the staff, especially those that you have mentioned personally.

I hope you are now recovering well at home.

Best wishes
Lisa
