"Awful experience"

I have had 2 procedures done at the Holly House Hospital as a NHS patient. Both experiences have been awful. The first one, a couple of years ago, I made an official complaint which was never followed through by the Holly. In both experiences as a day care patient, I found the staff just want you in and out and it doesn't matter how poorly you feel. And if you're unfortunate enough to be last on the list (as I was both times), they just want you out asap. So you are not given enough time to recover from the general anaesthetic.

I had my recent procedure done in May and had to arrive there for 7.30 am

I was told I would be going down approx 9.00 am. It was well after 9.00 am and the nursing staff were just chatting and having cups of tea. No one came to ask me how I was doing or with any kind of explanation as to why it was after 10.00 am and I was still anxiously waiting. I was finally taken down at approx 10.45 am. After the op when I came to. I was taken back to the ward. There was a glass of water and biscuits already waiting there for me and also a cup of tea and sandwich brought to me soon after. I was feeling very sleepy and was just bombarded with information that I couldn't take in properly. Usually after having a general anaesthetic you are given small sips of water first to see how you get on before more drink and food is brought to you. But on this occasion I was given the whole lot in one go and as I was feeling very thirsty and hungry after the long fast, I was tempted to eat and drink, but it wasn't going down very well and after a while I started fiercely vomiting. I was given an injection for the vomiting, helped to the toilet and then told I could go home. As I was the last one there I felt they just wanted me out to clear the ward ready for the next lot of patients. A porter came to take me to the reception area where I was to be collected, I left there feeling very unsteady and dehydrated I had to hold on to the porter for support. I felt very poorly. I definitely did not get the human touch from most of the nursing staff. I just felt like a number and nothing else. I have previously had treatment as a private patient in this hospital when I was a Bupa member and I never ever experienced anything like this. I was very happy with the surgeon though, they were a very kind and compassionate person and good at what they do. But in future after having 2 very bad experiences I will not choose the Holly Hospital again.
