I dislocated my finger in a fall at lunchtime yesterday, which was horribly painful....I was weak & tearful with the pain and shock. i attended the Minor Injuries unit at Exmouth Hospital., where I was x-rayed and assessed, and then was sent to the A&E department, at the Royal Devon & Exeter,
I sat in the triage area of the A&E for no more than fifteen minutes, and then was taken into an examination room.
A nurse practitioner, experienced in dislocations, was summonsed, and with great patience and good humor, pulled my finger back into the correct position.
What a relief!
Another quick x-ray, a review from the nurse, and I was on my way home....battered and bruised, but not in pain anymore; done and dusted in two hours.
I was treated with great kindness and consideration by all the staff, in clean and pleasant surroundings.
My only very slight complaint was the rather terse reception from the entrance desk staff, who did not seem very sympathetic to my tearful and desperate state; however, I am sure they have a very difficult job, with people in a much worse state than me!
I cannot speak highly enough of my treatment, and am very grateful to all concerned, both at Exmouth and the RD&E.
Thank you all very much.
"Excellent treatment in a short time"
