"Excellent service"

About: Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital

Thank you to all the staff at the birthing centre for looking after me when I had my little girl. My baby was delivered by a fantastic student (under supervision from the midwife). The facilities were excellent and even when they were really busy the staff never let it show to us.

My only issues are not with the staff. Firstly, the lack of bottle making/sterilising facilities on the ward was not communicated to us in advance.

I did have the starter sma kit, but we ended up staying in longer and with it being late on a Sunday when we found out we were unable to get more until the next day.

Thankfully the midwife gave us a bottle which helped get us until the next day. But we could have done without my husband having to dash off out to try and find some (as you can't get it in all supermarkets). Also, I found out later that I should have had a visit from the physio before I was discharged. I was in the hospital for 30 hours after the birth, but this was not mentioned to me.

Dear Victoria,

Firstly, many congratulations on the safe and happy arrival of your little girl.

I hope all is going well as she settles into her new home?

I’m delighted that you were so happy with the care you received and the facilities on offer at The Northumbria – your 5 star rating and review is deeply appreciated.

It sounds like there were a couple of things that would have made your stay with us even better – thanks for sharing these with us so that we can continually improve our service .

I will pass on your comments to the team – I know they will want to reflect on them.

With all best wishes to you and your family,

Annie
