"turned away without treatment"

About: Wharfedale Hospital

I visited the Minor Injuries unit last night with a head wound. I saw online that it was open until 11pm. I arrived at 9.35, and was turned away. The receptionist didn't ask why I was there. The receptionist simply said that they could not treat me- that there was only one nurse on duty, and they would not have time to see me. The receptionist said my only choice was to go to A and E in Leeds.

I understand that with a closing time of 11pm, there probably has to be a cut off point a little earlier. But almost an hour and a half earlier? if this is the case, it should be stated on the web site. My journey was wasted, and

I was given no help and no treatment.

Short of staff, maybe, but even shorter on compassion.

A very poor service.

I apologise for you being turned away at the Minor Injury Unit, this would only occur if the unit was already at full capacity. An in depth explanation of this should have been given to you by the Reception or clinical staff. This has been fed back to the Reception staff that all patients should be seen initially by the Clinican before being sign posted to togther services.

Yours Sincerley
