Approximately 12 months ago after a period of fevers and feeling generally unwell I was diagnosed with glandular fever. After initially suffering with the typical symptoms, after 2-3 months I progressively started to feel worse and come to a complete halt whereby I struggled to get out of bed and found it near impossible to get up and down the stairs. Showing the symptoms of Chronic fatigue and it being part of my family history I managed to get an appointment very promptly and there was a clear focus from my Consultant Nerugologist and my Occuptational therapist for me to immediately get back on track to good health. Within my first appointment, my neurologist prescribed medication to ease my chronic pain and depression that I had developed and within a week I felt great results. For this quick response and immediate action I am extremely grateful. After this, I went through several meetings with my Occuptational Therapist where we discussed a clear plan and set targets for me to build myself back up and reduce the fatigue that I had felt for a number of months. These meetings were productive and scheduled regularly and without them I am certain I would not be in the much better state of health that I am today. The process of my recovery over the last 12 months has been made much more bareable thanks to the staff of Queens hospital. From the receptionists at the front desks to the nurses and doctors, everyone I met greeted me with a warm smile and were highly professional.
Currently, I have learnt to manage my Chronic fatigue and with the help of my Neuologist and Occupational therapist I am able to go about my day to day business in a relatively normal manner whilst using techniques and tips to reduce my symptoms that they have taught me. I am greatly indebted to the services that Queens hospital provided me with and I would highly recommend the hospital to anyone with a similar set of problems to myself.
