"Parking shocking . Smoking out side the front..."

About: Dorset County Hospital

Shocking lack of both disabled and able bodied parking . Machines need to updated to use debit card or mobile apps as the change Machine wasn't working. Stressful when you are trying to get to the ward as quick as possible .

Outraged to see cigarette butts all over the floor outside the entrances . It's a hospital get this banned from site .

Hospital wifi code why don't the help desk know this ? Why isn't it on notice boards etc . I work in a hospital and I don't think it's good practice when staff say they don't know the code .

Dear Anonymous

My sincere apologies for the delay in responding. I am sorry to hear about the issues you identified during your visit to Dorset County Hospital.

There is currently an issue around the number of disabled parking spaces available due to the building works that are taking place around the hospital, which means that unfortunately some of the spaces have had to be used for the delivery of building materials. However, every effort has been made to try to ensure that other spaces are re-opened as some are closed. I am sorry if this did not seem to be the case when you visited. Dorset County Hospital does have more disabled parking spaces as a whole when compared to other NHS Trusts, although I appreciate it may not appear this way at present.

With regard to able-bodied parking spaces, we have recently opened a number of staff car parking spaces over on the old Damers school site, and this means that there will be more parking spaces for patients around the main hospital site.

I note your comment about making the ticket machines able to take card payments or via mobile app and will forward your suggestion on to our Head of Estates - thank you for your feedback.

Dorset County Hospital is a Smokefree site and so it is disheartening to hear of cigarette butts on the floor. Again, I will pass this to our Head of Estates for his further action.

With regard to the hospital wifi, there is no specific code required. For smartphones, when the wifi is turned on you should see the DCH Guest Wifi server. On turning this on, a log in page should appear where you are able to enter your details (name, email address etc) - this should then give you wifi access.

Thank you again for your valuable feedback, and please accept my apologies for what sounds like a frustrating visit - I hope that should you have cause to return you find your visit to be much improved.

Best wishes

Becky Protopsaltis

Head of Patient and Public Engagement
