"Were the few good doctors and ..."

About: King George Hospital

What I liked

Were the few good doctors and nurses who take their roles seriously even under pressure of the job. They had a smile and kinds words even if it was only for a minute or two before they had to move on the the next patient.

What could be improved

Most of the night time staff were awful and should not be working in a hospital. I count myself lucky that I could get up and walk out of the ward and the hospital, which I did after 5 days of bad treatment. They didnt even inform my next of kin that I had walked out, for all they know I could have died in a gutter somewhere.

The treatment I saw of frail old people was disgusting, myself and another person did spend time talking to them and even doing the nursing.. we were quickly moved to a side ward for our efforts.

I lay in a bed for 3 days awaiting tests that never happened, and over hearing the nurses and one doctor calling me a bed blocker, things written in my notes at the nurses station that never happened or were untrue, medicines being misplaced and not given to me despite notes written on my chart saying I was meant to have them every day.

The weather is very hot at the moment but no fans were provided for the patients, on asking I was told it was cut backs.. funny then how one night on getting up in pain I saw fans going full blast over the nurses stations!!

On my 5th day in there I could take no more when I found out my pain medication had not been ordered for me the night before as promised so I packed my bag and walked out at 5.30 am even though I knew I had a enlarged non alcohol related liver and my bloods were elevated. I could not stand the disgusting treatment to myself or what I saw going on around me anymore.

I am now having to try and get out patient appointments to sort out what is wrong with me.

What needs to be improved everything.

Anything else?

To the doctors and nurses who truly care I salute you, You do a fantastic job under great pressure.

To the others I say get out your kind of caring is not required.
