"My experience of neurophysio"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Physiotherapy

(as a service user),

I was admitted on  for apparent specialist neurophysio to try and help the lack of mobility in my left foot and leg caused by functional neurological disorder, this was arranged by my professor at the western infirmary in Edinburgh.

On admission the physios got me to stand up and try to get my left heel down flat as I have dystonia of that foot, 8 years at that point this foot and leg had not functioned correctly. As I rocked back n forth I stated I felt like something was going to snap but was told it was fine nothing would happen.

I had ten minutes in the morning and ten minutes in afternoon of basically just trying to walk. By the Thursday morning it was extremely painful and swelling yet I did continue in the afternoon with tears running down my face from the pain. After a sleepless night because of the pain, by morning the entire foot and ankle were very very swollen, the physio came I told them and they looked and said oh yeah it very swollen I'll get doctor to come look.

Ward doctor came and said same and needed scanned, and I'd to wait for pain management team. No scan no pain management team, the doctor never even examined it.

I walked into the hospital on my crutches on the Monday and had to be wheeled out in my wheelchair on the Friday at 6 pm when the ward shut. 8 months later I get a scan, on the sole of the foot which I explained was not the injured area! Made no difference. No discharge letter had been issued and the doctor has ignored all correspondence from my professor. Two plus years on this injury continueds to swell bruise and cause excruciating pain. I feel  someone needs to be accountable for this and any advice will be greatly appreciated

Thank you
