I was referred to the Endoscopy unit for investigation of suspect bladder cancer. Following a cystoscopy and
CT and ultra sound scans a small cancerous growth was removed by the urological surgeon. Further scans confirmed the earlier suspicion of a large aortic aneurysm which then necessitated a seven hour repair operation carried out by the vascular surgery team, some weeks after the first operation. At all times during my two stays in the hospital I was well cared for, comfortable and encouraged by the cheerful and compassionate attitude of all I met. My thanks to the urological department and the vascular team, those who carried out the scans and the positive attitude of the
pre-operation assessment department. The nursing staff in the High Dependency Unit and on ward 5b ensured my early recovery. My many appointments were nearly all on time,I had little waiting and no arrangements were changed or cancelled.
Well done Pilgrim.
